I am allergic to onions and garlic, but many, many recipes call for these ingredients. Is there anything I can substitute for these two ingredients?

Hey Mary - I'm not sure if these still fall in the category for your allergies, but several substitutes can replace onions and garlic in recipes. For onion, consider leeks, shallots, or fennel. For garlic, try shallots, ginger, or horseradish. Obviously, every recipe is going to have a specific flavor profile, so that might not be too helpful, but if there is a specific recipe that you like, I'm happy to help provide swaps for you. Sometimes, it's not the end of the world to leave them out all together.
