Thank you to GoodCook for sponsoring this 7 Meal Prep Combos Under $37.00 post, and thank YOU for supporting the brands that help make Meal Prep On Fleek possible. All opinions are our own.
Meal prepping can be scary when you don't know where to start and are afraid of spending too much money. You think to yourself, "This is so much work. It would be much easier to just grab food while I am out." The great news is that meal prepping doesn't need to be time consuming or expensive. With just 7 ingredients that you can grab at Target for less than $37.00 and your favorite Good Cook Meal Prep containers, you can have a week's worth of meals ready in less than 90 minutes, promise!
The key is to keep the number of foods simple. Many of these ingredients you probably already have on hand. You don't need long lists of ingredients to meal prep. More is not always better. You will find that if you have too many ingredients you will end up with food waste, which is always a big no-no! With fewer ingredients, you will also be able to think about more ways to put everything together! Winning!
So, by keeping the grocery list short and shopping at Target for the ingredients and meal prep containers, you will save both time and money! Sounds perfect, don't you think?
Here is the grocery list that you will need to create these 7 mix and match meal prep combos.
- 1 box chickpea based pasta (can sub regular pasta, but it takes a bit longer to cook)
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 jar pasta sauce
- 1 bag spinach (can sub frozen to save even more money!)
- 1 pound chicken breast
- 1 bag fresh veggies (we used broccoli)
- 1 pint tomatoes
- 1 cucumber
- 1 bottle Italian dressing or any of your favorite dressings
- 1 box rice
- 1 bottle teriyaki sauce
- 1 bag mixed frozen veggies
Total grocery bill: $36.47 (Please note that pricing will vary depending on where you live in the country. This pricing is based on the Boston area)
That's it! We are going to assume that you have staples such as salt, pepper, and some seasonings on-hand, but it's you don't, make sure to grab those, too!
These are just 7 of the possibilities you could make. But, trust us, there are so many more that you could come up with using these ingredients. Are you ready to get cooking?
Combination #1
Pasta X Ground Beef X Spinach X Pasta Sauce
It's pasta and meatballs time! Use 8 ounces of your ground beef to make a small batch of 20-minute meatballs (save half for another dish) and serve in your meal prep container with pasta, spinach, and pasta sauce.
Combination #2
Pasta X Chicken X Tomato X Cucumber X Italian Dressing
Your pasta is already cooked from the last recipe, so just bake up your chicken (about 18 minutes), slice your cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and then toss everything together with your Italian dressing for a fast pasta salad combo!
Combination #3
Pasta X Chicken X Broccoli X Pasta Sauce
Your chicken and pasta are already cooked, so just steam up your broccoli and serve everything in your meal prep container with some pasta sauce!
Combination #4
Meatballs X Rice X Broccoli X Teriyaki Sauce
Takeout fake out! Cook your brown rice according to package directions. Serve with your remaining meatballs and steamed broccoli. Toss with teriyaki sauce for an Asian flavor!
Combination #5
Chicken X Rice X Frozen Veggies X Teriyaki Sauce
Everything that is cooked is done! Just toss together your brown rice, chicken, some frozen veggies, and toss with teriyaki sauce! Easy, peasy!
Combinations #6
Ground Beef X Rice X Frozen Veggies X Teriyaki Sauce
Saute up your remaining ground beef and add to your cooked brown rice. Mix in some frozen stir-fry veggies and finish off with teriyaki sauce! Who needs takeout when you can make this for cheaper!
Combination #7
Spinach X Chicken X Tomato X Cucumber X Italian Dressing
An easy chicken salad always hits the spot! Use your remaining chicken, chopped veggies and dressing to create a 3 minute, high-protein, low carb salad! If you have extra brown rice or pasta, toss that in too! It's a great addition.
